Potter was sacked on Sunday following the Blues’ disappointed defeat to Aston Villa at the Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday.
However, the Evening Standard is now reporting that the Englishman was sacked for his lack of respect among the players.
The club’s hierarchy had to let him go despite club’s co-owner Todd Boehly and the board previously planning to support Potter through thick and thin.
One of the most eye-catching, according to the newspaper, is that the 47-year-old did not command the respect of his large group of players.
According to the report, there was no mutiny against the former Brighton boss but players were uninspired by his personality and his methods and team selections.
The players went as far as giving their manager ‘unflattering nicknames’ ‘Harry Potter’, with other references to ‘Quidditch’.
The players, as the Independent also reported, simply do not respect a man who had never managed at the elite level before.
